4. Ira2 Fuller (Cornelius1) was born in presumably in Connecticut ca 29 July 1771.(9) He died 7 Dec 1849: Sussex Co, NJ, at 78 years of age.(10) He was buried : at Walpack Center Methodist cem Walpack Twp, Sussex Co, NJ.(11) Died aged 78 yrs, 4 mos, 9 days.
He married Hannah Swartwout ca 1794:. Hannah was born ca 1776:.(12) She died before 1858:. Hannah was enumerated as the head of a family on the 1850 Census Walpack Twp, Sussex Co, NJ ().(13) She is likely the Hannah who was baptised 8 June 1777 along with Manuel, children of Peter Swartood and Elizabeth Shoemaker. ..
On November 16, 1796, Ira purchased land in Upper Smithfield from a Solomon Smith of Goshen, Orange Co, NY. There were two parcels, one of 5+ acres (purchased for 60 pounds Pennsylvania money) and one of one-half acre. [read by John Greiner].
On 15 Feb 1798, Ira and Hannah Fuller of Milford sold 5+ acres to James Eldred of Minisink, NY located in Upper Smithfield Twp. in Wayne Co. (read by John Greiner)
Ira Fuller appears as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Troop of Light Dragoons in the Return of Militia Officers for the Wayne County Brigade on Saturday, October 20, 1798 (Penna. Archives).
In 1798, Ira lived in a one-story wood house on two acres in Upper Smithfield Twp, Wayne Co, Pa. According to the US Direct Tax list, this house was worth $105 and its reputed owners were not known.
In 1800, Ira appears in Upper Smithfield Twp census: 30010 - 20010.
Ira first appears in the Sussex Co, NJ, deed records in April 1808 when he purchased 184 acres in Walpack Twp for $1,749.
Ira was one of the appraisers of the estate of Jacob Hetzel of Walpack Twp in May 1814. He subsequently purchased 2/3 of Jacob Heltzel's real estate.
In 1833, Ira Fuller was chosen as one of the trustees of the new Pleasant Valley Methodist Epsicopal Church in what became known as Walpack Centre. The other trustees were Timothey E. Shay, Isaac Losey, Robert Bell and Joseph Fuller. (from Snell's History of Sussex Co, NJ).
When Ira died, his assets were insufficient to pay his debts. Therefore, the "saw mill lot" of 180 acres adjoining land of Jonathon Denman, Jacob Myers and others was sold to William VanHorn Jr. for $910 in Nov 1850. Another 260 acres was sold to Peter Fuller for $4,750.
