25. Samuel S.⁴ Maxwell (John³, James², John¹)⁽²⁷⁾ was born in York Co, Pa 16 Jul 1795. Samuel died 9 Oct 1874: in Shelby Co, Oh, at 79 years of age.

He married Mary Wagoner in Ohio, 2 Feb 1816. Mary died 21 Mar 1873:. .. At the age of 18 he enrolled in the War of 1812 and served to its close [per Maxwell History & Genealogy by Houston, Blaine & Melette p. 485, c1916]

Samuel S. Maxwell and Mary Wagoner had the following children:

104 i. Benjamin W.⁵ Maxwell was born in Ohio 21 Nov 1817. Benjamin died 12 Jan 1892: at 74 years of age.

105 ii. Margaret Maxwell was born in Montgomery Co, Oh 14 Jan 1820. Margaret died 18 Dec 1882: at 62 years of age.

106 iii. John Maxwell was born in Montgomery Co, Oh 6 Feb 1822. John died 22 Nov 1851: in Shelby Co, Oh, at 29 years of age.

107 iv. Bezaleel Maxwell was born 3 Sept 1824. Bezaleel died 8 Sept 1824: at less than one year of age.

108 v. Abraham Maxwell was born in Montgomery Co, Oh 11 Nov 1826. Abraham died 23 Aug 1864: in Shelby Co, Oh, at 37 years of age.

109 vi. Diana Maxwell was born 16 Nov 1829. Diana died 25 Aug 1830: at less than one year of age.

110 vii. Hannah D. Maxwell was born 18 July 1831. Hannah died 30 July 1883: at 52 years of age.

111 viii. David Maxwell was born 23 Apr 1834. David died 22 May 1845: at 11 years of age.

112 ix. Ruth Maxwell was born in Shelby Co, Oh 23 Feb 1838. Ruth died 4 Sept 1862: at 24 years of age.

113 x. Eleanor S. Maxwell was born 6 Oct 1842.
